Very nice article and review, and a good read, so thank you for sharing.

From a filmic standpoint I’m not sure I wholly agree with all you say, however - just an opinion of course and doesn’t detract from your view or your very well constructed article.

You mention in the speech scene in the basketball court that Oppenheimer’s moral conflicts are portrayed as him seeing what others cannot. I didn’t see it that way, actually. Naturally, due to the construct of the film, we’re getting everything through his mindset, so clearly we’re only privy to his thoughts. However I took there to be a real unease in the jingoistic applause of the others in the scene which is then punctuated by the sound of someone crying as he leaves - which I take to symbolise a more general undercurrent of emotion beyond the ‘public’ and large artificial euphoria.

As I say, despite not sharing exactly the same view, I very much enjoyed reading your thoughts on it.
